Mohan Veena’s global voice resonates in Jharkhand
Bhatt, known worldwide for the Mohan Veena, offered a reflective and unhurried recital that drew students, faculty members, and residents from the surrounding areas.

Delhi is set to resonate with the timeless sounds of Indian classical music and the graceful rhythms of dance as the Swami Haridas–Tansen Sangeet Nritya Mahotsava 2026 takes centre stage from January 9 to 11 at Modern School, Barakhamba Road.

The festival will showcase some of the nation’s most distinguished maestros, offering audiences rare ragas, soulful renditions, and spiritually uplifting performances.

Pt. Vishwamohan Bhatt will mesmerize on the Mohan Veena, while Pt. Salil Bhatt brings the Satvik Veena to life. Sitar virtuoso Ustad Shujaat Khan and sarod maestro Ustad Amaan Ali Bangash will enthrall listeners, alongside the vocal brilliance of Vidushi Ashwini Bhide Deshpande, Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar, and Begum Parween Sultana. Legendary flutist Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia will enchant with his melodic mastery, and Pt. Rahul Shivkumar Sharma will perform on the santoor.
The festival will also feature scintillating Kathak performances by Uma Sharma and her disciples, blending rhythm, expression, and storytelling in a visual spectacle.
Talking about this initiative, she noted, “While today’s youth gravitate toward Western and pop music, it is imperative to preserve and promote the timeless legacy of Indian classical arts. This festival aims to inspire the next generation to cherish our musical heritage.”
